Netrek is a multiplayer battle simulation with a Star Trek theme. It is a team-oriented game with a first person perspective that progresses in real time over the Internet. As a player, you captain starships to engage enemy vessels, bomb armies, and invade planets in order to expand your team's space empire. The ultimate goal is to genocide the enemy race, but the carnage of battles along the way is ruthlessly fast paced and a lot of fun.
What's New in This Release:
· Both q and Q are remapped to warp 0.(This is due to abusive players telling newbies to hit 'q' or 'Q' when they have a problem.)
· Q has been remapped to ''.
· Phasers are mapped to 'f'.(Default config has plasma mapped to 'f' and phaser mapped to 'p' which is a pain for new players.)
· Plasma mapped to 'g'.
Controls
Changing Controls - If you would like to reconfigure your keys you will need to edit the "netrekrc" file located in your Netrek install directory. Not an easy task to explain and it is recommended that you use the configuration below until you are more familiar with the game. There is a configuration utility that comes with the Windows version on this site that can be used to configure your keyboard, mouse controls and some of the features built into the Windows version available on this site. If you are new and absolutely must change your configuration, it is recommended that you use this utility. For more information on changing your configuration, referenece the help file that comes with the game. A link to this help file will be created when you install the game(Windows only).
